Lesser Black-Backed Gull - GREEN [M.ABT] / white

Lesser Black-backed Gull (L.f. graellsii), >8cy, G[M.ABT], leucistic wing coverts

Lesser Black-backed Gull (Larus fuscus graellsii - Dutch integrade), >8th calendar year
Texel, Kelderhuispolder, Gull colony, June 24, 2011. Green M.ABT. Adult Lesser Black-backed Gull in full summer (alternate) plumage.
As can be clearly seen, one greater primary covert in each wing has lost all its pigment. Interestingly, this individual did not show any leucism the previous season.
Leucism in the wing occurs regularly in Lesser Black-backed Gulls, as proven by another individual present in the colony at the same time. See another example here.
(Ring info: ringed June 11, 2007, Kelderhuispolder, Texel, The Netherlands. Sex: male. Age: unknown, after 4th calendar year.)

Kleine Mantelmeeuw (Larus fuscus graellsii - Dutch integrade), na 8de kalenderjaar
Meeuwenkolonie Kelderhuispolder Texel, 24 juni 2011. Groen M.ABT. Adulte Kleine Mantelmeeuw in volledig zomerkleed.
(Ringdatum: 11 juni 2007, Kelderhuispolder, Texel. Geslacht: man. Leeftijd: onbekend, na 4de kalenderjaar.)
