Black-headed Gul - RED [4.8] / white

Black-headed gull (Chroicocephalus ridibundus), 2nd calendar year
Leiderdorp, Laan van Berendrecht, The Netherlands, December 12, 2010. Red 4.8, Arnhem 3.691.875. Second-calendar year Black-headed gull in full winter (basic) plumage. Note the dark red legs and bill, making this individual indistinguishable from adults.

Kokmeeuw (Chroicocephalus ridibundus), 2de kalenderjaar
Laan van Berendrecht, Leiderdorp, 12 december 2010. Red 4.8, Arnhem 3.691.875. Tweede-kalenderjaar Kokmeeuw in volledig winterkleed. Door de donkerrode poten en snavel is dit individu niet te onderscheiden van adulte Kokmeeuwen.
(Ringdatum: 29 december 2009, Oosterpark, Amsterdam. Leeftijd: 1ste kalenderjaar.)

About this Weblog

The main target of this blog is to contribute the research to gullidentification and migrationpatterns. This by collecting photo's of colourringed gulls in different plumages and inform the ringers of new sightings and photo's.
