Lesser Black-backed Gull (Larus fuscus), 3rd calendar year
Westkapelle beach, The Netherlands, September 24, 2010. Red H.328, Helgoland N007900. Third-calendar year Lesser Black-backed Gull, with extensive "winter" marking on head, in neck and on the breast. The bill is predominantly black but turning yellow in most places, with the red gonys spot already starting to appear.

Kleine Mantelmeeuw (Larus fuscus), 3de kalenderjaar
Westkapelle strand, 24 september 2010. Rood H.328, Helgoland N007900. Derde-kalenderjaar Kleine Mantelmeeuw, met uitgebreide "winterstreping" op de kop, borst, en in de nek. De snavel is grotendeels zwart maar kleurt al geler op de meeste plaatsen, waarbij de rode gonysvlek al zichtbaar wordt.
